Simple Image EXIF Viewer
What is EXIF metadata ?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) metadata are additional data embodied in digital images by digital cameras, smartphones, tablets, etc. This metadata contains information about the image file, such as the camera settings used to capture the image, date and time the image was taken, GPS location data, and more.
Example information stored in EXIF metadata:
- Camera maker and model
- Lens focal length
- Shutter speed
- Aperture
- ISO
- Exposure compensation
- Flash status
- White balance
- GPS coordinates
- Date and time taken
EXIF metadata is useful for photographers, provides important information about how a particular photo was
taken, and can help with post-processing and organization. However, those data can be also dangerous for us.
Do you post a lot of images on your social media accounts ?. You go for a run or a walk on your favorite
route and take a photo of a cute dog or you always stop by the same coffee place on your commute to work
sharing your favorite order ?.
It’s nothing bad !, but someone could extract from your photo
a lot of sensitive data, that could share where you live, work or spend your free time.
So please keep in mind that if you want to share an image the best way is to remove or strip EXIF metadata
from the image file.
To remove EXIF metadata you can use our EXIF Remover
tool. Good practice
is verify EXIF metadata before sharing the image. So, enjoy our EXIF Viewer and stay safe!
